From 1941 to 1943, he participated in the organization of the air defense of Gorky, Nizhny Novgorod region, a major industrial center of the RSFSR and the USSR as a whole. In Gorky, he commanded an anti-aircraft battery and guarded an automobile factory from numerous German air raids.

Military units: Served in the ranks of 196 zsp Air Defense, 174 zsp Air Defense, 874 oatb 5 adp RGK 1BelF. He was the party organizer of the 874th separate motor transport battalion of the 5th Artillery Kalinin Division.During his service, he was concussed twice and wounded three times. He participated in the First Belorussian Front in the liberation of the Volyn region of the Ukrainian SSR and the city of Minsk, the capital of the BSSR. He received his first concussion in the north of Ukraine. After the hospital, he was enlisted as an officer in the Polish units of the Ludowa Army. As part of Ludova's Army, he liberated Warsaw. He took part in the storming of Berlin. He served on long-range guns "howitzers". He conducted artillery preparation in Berlin. During the Berlin operation, he was severely concussed again. He spent about a year in the hospital. The concussion was very severe, and he was discharged in 1946.

I always delivered ammunition and fuel on time .In addition, Comrade Verbovskyi takes the initiative and takes care to purchase captured fuel and barrels. Post-war life:
After the war, he returned home. In peacetime, he worked in senior positions. He began his post-war career in the village of Peremozhny in the Lutuginsky district of the Voroshilovgrad region, where he met his wife Antonina Alexandrovna Verbovskaya (12/15/1920-2007), who worked as a primary school teacher at a local school. Antonina Alexandrovna was also a veteran of the Second World War.
Ivan Martynovich's wife: Antonina Alexandrovna Verbovskaya. She served as a corporal in the 405th separate long-range bomber aviation regiment, in the Chancellery in a secret unit. She was born in 1920 in Pervozvanovka village, Lutuginsky district. She volunteered for the front. He has military awards. She was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II, the medal "For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945." After the liberation of the Luhansk region, she was demobilized and sent to her former job as a teacher at the Engels school in the Lutuginsky district of the Voroshilovgrad region. She died in 2007 and was buried in the village of Peremozhnoye.
Children:
They had two children, Vladimir Ivanovich Verbovskyi (born 1947) and Galina Ivanovna Verbovskaya (born 1950-1993).Verbovskyi Ivan Martynovich died in 1971. He was buried in the village of Peremozhnoye in the Lutuginsky district of the Voroshilovgrad region of the Ukrainian SSR.
