This article is an attempt to describe in a popular science form the trends and patterns and, most importantly, the results of the evolution of such a phenomenon of the mass Ukrainian consciousness as the image of the enemy. Particularly clearly manifested in the dramatic events of the first half of 2014, when as a result of the events on the Maidan, the legally acting president Viktor Yanukovych was removed from power as a result of a coup. As a result, the puppet pro-American regime of A. Turchynov was established, which approved the colonial status of Ukraine, the external management of the US Embassy, and its satellites Germany and France and international financial institutions such as the IMF. Such assessments, in our opinion, do not raise doubts.
"The image of the enemy" is perhaps one of the most ancient and clearly expressed archetypes that humanity has inherited from the animal world, and perhaps from the entire living organic world. According to most scientists, the image of the enemy is a derivative of the instinct of self-preservation. Among other things, the dichotomy of "friend - foe" is considered basic for human consciousness, fundamental for the development of family, clan, ethnicity, national culture and civilization as a whole. This dichotomy underlies the formation of national and social identity (A. Maikov).

The Armenian question is one of the most complex and at the same time fundamental questions of the entire Middle Eastern and Caucasian politics. The events in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Armenian Genocide in Turkey and Armenian-Turkish relations are impossible without taking into account this most important factor of international relations. It is no coincidence that the article devoted to the Armenian question was included in the "Ukrainian Diplomatic Encyclopedia" in Volume 1. In Ukrainian: "Virmenske pitannia"//Ukrainian diplomatic encyclopedia: In 2 volumes. - K.: Knowledge of Ukraine, 2004. - Volume 1. - 712 pages. - P. 249.
The nobility was one of the most important and system-forming classes of the Russian Empire. The nobility represented a significant part of the ruling class, was not homogeneous, but without a doubt, was the most educated and most involved in power and local self-government part of Russian society, the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century.
Today in Russia in particular and in the post-Soviet space in general, the name of Viktor Vladimirovich Verbovskyi (1910-1944), captain of the Soviet Army, underground partisan, People's Hero of Yugoslavia, who died in the last days of the war (autumn 1944) and was buried in the city named after him, means little to anyone. However, it is to his modest obelisk that the first persons of the Russian state usually lay flowers during visits to this country.
On the eve of the 90th anniversary of Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev (born March 2, 1931), as well as the 30th anniversary of the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact (February 25, 1991), our gaze once again, and not without reason, turns to the causes and consequences of NATO expansion in Eastern Europe, which was accompanied, in turn, by increased military and political pressure on Russia in the first half of the 21st century. For many analysts in Russia and elsewhere, NATO's offensive to the East is the result of a mistake, and possibly betrayal, based on colossal naivety bordering on stupidity, committed by the Soviet ruling class more than thirty years ago.
In everyday speech and in scientific discourse, the word "enemy" is often closely related to the word "other". "Other" for "enemy" is specific. Without it, understanding this concept and word is almost impossible. In Old Slavonic, "other" is literally the one who follows you. The shortened form is the word "friend".
Verbovskyi Ivan Martynovich, joined the Red Army on July 10, 1941 (he was called up by the Uspensky RVC, Voroshilovgrad region) as part of the Central and Bryansk fronts. From 1941 to 1943, he participated in organizing the air defense of the city of Gorky in the Nizhny Novgorod region, a major industrial center of the RSFSR and the USSR as a whole. In Gorky, he commanded an anti-aircraft battery, guarding the Automobile Plant from numerous German air raids.
Lately, the central Russian media and experts have been increasingly talking about the deep state. That real non-capital province that is the support of the state and the center of traditions and the will to live. I thought for a long time about how to show this true Russia, which is the personification of the driving forces of Russian history. And life itself suggested the answer to this question. Working on a video about my grandfather, Ivan Martynovich Verbovskyi, I discovered that he began his military career in the Great Patriotic War, guarding the skies above the Gorky Automobile Plant. And studying the map of the Gorky region, now the Nizhny Novgorod region, I discovered a curious settlement on the border with the Vladimir region. Murom region, the village of Verbovskyi. It seemed interesting and entertaining to me then. And nothing more... I got carried away with my projects, but the thought of learning about this village did not leave me for a minute.

On the eve of Mikhail Gorbachev's 90th anniversary (born March 2, 1931) and the 30th anniversary of the Warsaw Pact dissolution (February 25, 1991) we once again and not without reason look at the reasons and consequences of NATO's expansion to Eastern Europe, which was accompanied in turn by increased military and political pressure on Russia in the first half of the 21st century.
One of my early works, which, due to the changed international situation, acquired a new shade and meaning. It was revised in 2022 and to some extent re-thought. Based on our realities, I gathered the courage to publish it to a wide mass of readers.
